WOYWW 340 - The mad dash towards Christmas.

Happy Wednesday. Joining in with the blog hopping that is WOYWW. You can find info here at Julia's blog. Do join in the fun!!

I can't believe its just over 2 weeks till the big day - I feel I need at least another 2 months! At least I got a head start on the christmas cards by joining the monthly Christmas Card Club at the Artistic Stamper this year. Every month (since January) we make 5 cards (or at least get the materials to make 5 cards). Sometimes we get chatting and only 2 or 3 are made. Its all good fun and as I said its given me a head start - which I need as I haven't made nearly enough to send out. But time is running out so all my plans for fancy cards are out the window and I'm resorting to a few simple stamped images as you can see from the task in progress on my desk.

The snowman stamp is an old favourite of mine - its from Funstamps and I've had it for years. I used Dylusions to colour some of them which are great when the waterbrushes filled with them don't leak - which they are doing at the moment. I just don't want the mess and the hassle so I will resort to my Lyra pencils for the rest of them. He will be layered on an embossed snowflake background courtesy of cuttlebug. I may just emboss the whole card to save time. Who knows.

There is also a painted polar bear awaiting decopatch papers, a commission from my sister for her friend. The card on the stand is a birthday card for a friend - its an Artistic Stamper stamp coloured with my Lyra pencils (just loving my Lyras). It was made at a very intensive workshop with Jennie at the Artistic Stamper on Saturday where we made 12 cards in just over 1.5 hours. It was a marathon but a good workshop. I may show you the other cards another time but for now as its late I will just show you the cards we have made so far this year at the Christmas Card Club.

We have our last session for this year tomorrow and Jennie has said we will be doing 12 cards in 2 hours. Based on the number of cards completed in some of the previous weeks we may still be there at midnight!!

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by. I will visit you all this week - even if it takes me all week to do so!!!

Lizzie.

WOYWW 338 - what a mess!

Well that week whizzed by in the blink of an eye! Here again - but this time not much crafty is happening on the desk. I've spent the last month or so working in a space not much greater than 12 square inches (30 cm squared for those of you who are metric). When I sat down to craft on Tuesday a veritable mountain of stamps, pencils, card, card packs, envelopes, paper trimmers, glue sticks and tapes that was teetering on the border of collapse decided to actually fall and cover my space and also the floor. So no choice but to tidy. The slightly blurry picture is taken this morning with the iPhone before sun up after a 3 hour tidy last night.

Its better than it was but still can't work on there - unless of course I just shove it all to one end and work in a small space again. That would not be good as I want to get the paints out and I know from experience a full, messy craft table and paint and water do not go well together unless you want to create paper mache or some other such wet messy blob. As you can the the Paperartsey paints are just peeking out from under some card and a page from a dictionary, waiting patiently for me to do something with the pile in front of the easel. I will continue with it tonight as next week is December and I've got to get my christmas cards finished. I shall show you some of them next week.
If you are wondering what WOYWW is, visit Julia over at Stamping Ground.

I will endeavour to visit more of you this week - I promise!
Have a good week.
Thanks for stopping by
Lizzie.

WOYWW 337 - let's try this again

Well, last week was an epic fail as I didn't even get the chance to write the post to join in with WOYWW. If you are wondering what I'm talking about pop over and see Julia at the Stamping Ground for more info.

This weeks desk is actually a follow on from what I would have written last week. The card is for my sister-in-law, I have 3 - and 2 of them have birthdays in November! It was in progress last week but now is completed as it needs to be posted to arrive by the end of the week. Her present is also on the desk which shall go with the card. The paper bag on the left hand side has vintage lace ribbon. Nat is a sucker for lace and shares my button fetish so we often drool over each others stash when we get together which isn't often enough. Also on the desk is the phone - I often speak to my sister whilst I'm at the desk - I like company when I craft.

A close up of the card for those interested.

Its a Dreamweaver stencil that I put over double sided sticky paper and then added glitter through the stencil. If you are careful with the amount of glitter you add you can get really good effects. I used whoye sparkle to fill in the sticky spaces once I had removed the stencil. Matted and layered onto green card and onto a white card that I had stamped over with a flower stamp with versamark and applied cosmic shimmer in a loverly iridescent green. I hope she likes it.
Thanks for stopping by. I shall visit you all later.

WOYWW 335 - The Halloween Crop and trying to get back into blogging.

Well, after stalking silently for the past few years most of the participants of Julia's WOYWW (Stamping Ground) I attended the WOYWW Halloween crop in Wiltshire with Dolores (Cardarian). Everyone was most welcoming and I had a marvellous time. The food provided by Lunch Lady Jan was super tasty and there seemed to be a never ending supply of tea and cake. Everyone was very friendly and I felt right at home. I was so busy saying hello and getting to know my fellow crafters I didn't take any photos of the day.
I received some lovely tags that I will display in my craft room. Thank you to everyone for making me most welcome, thanks to Jan for lovely food, endless tea and cake, and thanks to Julia, for without her WOYWW, the day would not have happened. A big thank you also goes to Alan (Dolores DBF) who drove us there and back in comfort.

Now to the matter in hand - what is on my work desk? I have been making a card for my sister in laws birthday.  It's just a simple one but I am sure she will like it. The stamp is from Personal Impressions and I painted it with my Inktense pencils. Stickles provide the glittery bling on the stars. Apologies for the photo, the light isn't brilliant and is reflecting off the card. Besides the card there is the remains of the creative process plus lurking amidst it all is an orange lollipop which I keep for when I get insomnia and have a middle of the night crafting session. I always want something sweet at 3am!

Now I shall see if I can link this up and come and visit you all. I shall endeavour not to forget my password this time!

Thanks for reading,
Lizzie
